There are many different approaches to calculate the mathematical exponentiation equations in scientific computing applications. Most of them concentrate on high speed calculations. While these solutions are efficient in terms of processing time, they are very power inefficient. The purpose of this thesis work is to introduce a circuit that performs the integer exponentiation operation in the same amount of time as conventional methods at reduced power consumption. Based on a recently developed mathematical method, the circuit transforms the base number to its discrete logarithm base 3 (DLG3), performs a series of shift-add operations, and finally transforms the number back to its original base. This research has the potential to help improve the overall power efficiency of applications that require calculating exponentiation....
